Description

A healthified version of the classic Chinese sesame chicken that will for sure be a favorite!


Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Chicken Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into small strips)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt & pepper
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 red bell pepper, horizontally sliced

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together all of the sauce ingredients and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl combine the cornstarch, salt and pepper followed by the sliced chicken. Coat the chicken with the cornstarch mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat and add the coated chicken to the pan.  Cook for about 7-8 minutes until chicken is golden brown on both sides.
  4. Stir in the bell peppers and sesame sauce to the pan and lower the heat to medium-low for an additional 3-4 minutes.

Notes

Serve over white or brown rice or quinoa.
